MiX Telematics goes Mobile

MiX Telematics, a global provider of fleet management and vehicle tracking solutions, today announced the launch of their vehicle tracking application, MiX Mobile, for the ever popular Apple iPhone.
MiX Telematics is the first in the Telematics industry to release such ground-breaking vehicle tracking technology for the iPhone. With its existing install base of over 500 000 fleet management and vehicle tracking units worldwide, entering the mobile app market was the logical step forward for MiX Telematics.
This new platform is ideal for people on the move. This exciting innovation provides customers with a solution that gives them more control than ever before. It brings tracking right to their fingertips, irrespective of where they are, allowing customers to keep tabs on their vehicles even when a computer is not available.

MiX Mobile, the latest in MiX Telematics’ product range offers a range of key features perfectly suited to iPhone technology. The superior iPhone screen has been used optimally so that all vehicles are available in the Status view to determine whether they are moving, at what speed and their exact location.
Customers can also pinch and stretch in true iPhone fashion to zoom in and out on maps that include street, satellite and hybrid views. All vehicles can be viewed on one map or individually and they can be followed in real-time. Using the iPhone’s built in GPS, the user is able to determine the phone’s position relative to a specific vehicle.

Customers can also track a vehicle directly from MiX Mobile by receiving regular updates via text messages. This text tracking is ideal for the concerned consumer, giving them peace of mind while their loved ones are in transit. It also empowers commercial users to keep track of drivers ensuring journeys are managed efficiently, therefore reducing costs.
Historical information is available in trip reports which display the total mileage a vehicle has driven within the past 48 hours. Trips are plotted on a map in order to view an entire route or just start and end points.
