Fleet Manager will be used by BTRA's technical delegates and scrutineers to monitor competitors' speeds and help enforce the sport's compulsory maximum 100mph limit. The system will also directly assist drivers by providing real time onboard alerts to warn of instances where the limit has been exceeded for a pre-specified period.
The integrity of data provided by Fleet Manager coupled with its real time capabilities has convinced us the time is now right to move from the tachograph-based enforcement system we have used up until now, comments BTRA Championship Coordinator Jonathan Reeves. "As well as its accuracy and instant notifications, Fleet Manager also provides reports which will be used to evidence instances of over-speeding and thereby settle any disputes which may arise post-race.
"In this way, we see that Fleet Manager will make a positive contribution not only to impartiality and racing fairness, but also to safety within our sport, which remains our top priority at all times."
