Transdev London
When Les Birchley, Engineering Director for Transdev London, was looking for a fleet management solution, he ran a comprehensive series of pilot trials before equipping an initial 147 vehicles at the company's Shepherd's Bush garage with MiX Fleet Manager. Since then the solution has delivered dramatic improvements in driving style and has equipped managers with the information they need to better control their team’s performance. Six weeks after deployment, Transdev London reported 4,000 litres of fuel a week were being saved – equating to six road tankers of diesel every year.
"The fuel savings and associated reduction in carbon dioxide we achieved during our pilot trials provided sufficient compelling evidence on their own, but the system also appeals to our drivers as it helps them do their job better.
"When you add all the benefits together – reduced fuel consumption, reduced emissions, reduced wear and tear, improved passenger comfort and enhanced safety for other road users and pedestrians – it's easy for our drivers to appreciate they now have a powerful tool at their disposal."

Go-Ahead London
In introducing MiX Fleet Manager to his 1,500-strong fleet, Go-Ahead London Business Development Manager Frank Thorpe utilised the system's ability to generate bespoke reports to the full. Go-Ahead also combined the introduction of the system with a competition to incentivise drivers.
"To keep matters as simple as possible, we used the fleet management systems to generate 'traffic light' reports for each driver, with a red-amber-green scale to show them exactly how they were doing.
"In terms of the continuous improvement we saw as a result, the outcome was exceptional. By the end of the competition, we had achieved a seven percent improvement in fuel consumption and our accident rate had noticeably declined. I am also sure wear and tear to our fleet will have reduced accordingly.
"Our drivers were, and remain, thoroughly motivated. From their perspective, the RIBAS unit made a huge difference; it's like having a coach sitting alongside you helping to maximise your performance – which, of course, for any professional is exactly what you want."
